These beauties represent a major draw for ecotourism in the area. Thick-billed parrots once ranged into the States. Now a trip into Mexico is required to observe these impressive birds in the wild. Their last stronghold on U.S. soil was located near Fort Huachuca, Arizona, in the early 1900s.
Wonderful photograph. Everything about this one works with the birds cozied up to one another but facing opposite directions, their interest in you the photographer, the trees framing the image, and the uncluttered background sky. I would love to see these beautiful parrots in the wild!
