Parrots, Parakeets, and their allies can often be surprisingly difficult to find, as they perch high in the treetops, calmly munching away on the ripe fruits available to them. This Aztec Parakeet never called while we were watching it. However, when in flight, most parrots make distinctive and raucous calls which can be heard from some distance away in the forest.
