Plebejus melissa

There was one remote area where for a few acres this was by far the most common species of butterfly on our project site. It was totally absent from the remaining 20-miles. We see this all the time, where you're walking along, not seeing something, then all of a sudden they're everyhere. With butterflies its usually because you've walked into an area with abundant host plant topographic or nectar resources.
