Plebejus melissa
During our spring butterfly season we saw 14 species of blues. We only found this species in one small area out of over 20 miles of surveyed land. This was true for several other species like Gorgon Copper and Common Sootywing, which only showed up in specific areas where their larval hostplants occurred and/or the topography was just right. Its the unexpected gems that keep it interesting out there.
