A more traditional fireworks festival in Japan, dating back 400 years. Puppets in a boat are suspended on ropes and swung between pine trees in front of an Atago shrine (愛宕神社). (Yes, that's right; it combines gunpowder, natural rope and pine trees ... in summer) Part of a ceremony for victory in battle but now confined to a few isolated sites, mostly in Ibaraki prefecture.
