The Lone Bud
5/22/05

*not sure why this picture isn't sharp. Could it be compression?*

I was thinking what to take for today's deaf pad. It seems each day gets harder
and I'm running out of ideas already! I was looking at my plants and saw this bud
and all these beautiful blooming pink lilies. I realized that this bud represents
me as a deaf person while all these colorful flowers represent hearing people.
They are able to open up and communicate with others while I really can't. I
stumble in communication with people and its hard for me to "open up" to others.
I am trying though! As the years go by, I realize that some people truly don't
care that I have a disability and that they really want to know who I am as a
person and I am learning to open up to others as well.

Beautiful picture!! I'm a professional photographer myself.
Sharpness can be reduced somewhat NOT only by compression, but could be by narrower depth of field. Perhaps not focused correctly manually--overriding the auto-focus feature. Whatever it is, the photo is pretty--what you said in the "story" is good. Good! Keep it up! :)

I can completely relate with you too! I was the only deaf person in junior and high school and in college as well but it also makes you strong and learn things about yourself that you otherwise would have not known.

That's the way I was in college-the only deaf woman at UMW. I am trying to be more open now. But, I have noticed that only certain people are open to getting to know me.
