Alarm System for the deaf
5/20/05

This is the alarm system I use. There are only two types on the
market which are "Alertmaster" and "Sonic". A lot of deaf people
use Alertmaster because of the variety of choices.

As you can see in the picture, my alarm clock can alert me to
the phone, doorbell, clock alarm, and baby crying. It can
even be set up to alert me if there is a fire. It does this
by a lamp that is hooked up to the alarm and the light goes
off and on continually. There is a vibrator you can plug into
the alarm and put under your bed but I don't really use it.

The black pager you see next to my clock is a paging system
that I can wear like a pager or cell phone and it lets me know
what is going on around the house since it coordinates with my
clock. The two modules you see on top of my alarm clock is
what I use anywhere in the house where there is an
outlet. It lets me know if the baby is crying.

You would be surprised how much these little gadgets cost. I
purchased them all new and it was easily over $500.

haha... that's funny. I never thought of it in that way! Even with all the help, it still doesn't make up for other things I NEED to know about, but that should change when I get the cochlear implant one day.
