Dai Minority, Xi Shuang Ban Na

Dai Minority – Is the largest minority in the Yun Nan province
Spring Water Festival (Water Splashing) is celebrated in April 13 to 15th and is more important than the Chinese Spring Festival to them. Some of the Dai still live in villages and preserve their culture. Every Dai village has their own temple in which the young males must attend the temple as a monk from the ages 8 to 10-years-old for at least three years. They can also choose to attend for three years, six years, or nine years. During the school time, they learn the Mandarin language and other schooling the same as the Han person. In the temple they learn the Dai language at night. The females attend school that is in their own village.
