construction initiated by N.Ceausescu the Communist President
born 1918 - died by firing squad 1989
1965 - 1989 General Secretary of the Communist Party
N. Ceausescu visited daily giving instructions to the team, buiding finished after his death
365,000 m2 (3,930,000 sqft) floor area
a team of 700 architects worked on the building
all materials used across the Parliament building and decorative artworks, chandeliers, huge carpets, etc were made in Romania
The Palace of Parliament is the second largest administrative building in the world after the Pentagon - USA
