For the past 15 years I have visited the Costa Allegre area of the State of Jalisco, usually two weeks during January. It has been a vacation in which I could play tennis on the local clay-courts and work in some birding.This year, because of a dysfunctional hip, I played no tennis and devoted more time to birding. I birded the areas of Barra de Davidad, where we stayed, the Laguna de Tule at Melaque, and two beaches, La Manzanilla and Cuastecomates, on bays just north of Melaque.
