(Arp 117)

IC 0983 (UGC 09061, ARP 117) spiral galaxy type SB(r)bc in Bootes. The galaxy to the lower right is
IC 0982 (galaxy type SA0+). Together IC 983 and IC 982 make up Arp 117 which is in the class of “E
and E-like Galaxies close to and perturbing spirals” in the Atlas of Perturbing Galaxies, by Halton
Arp. The bright blue star to the lower left of IC 983 is HD 123930 (BD+18 2834). Taken over several
nights from May 25 thru June 19, 2020. Imaged with Starlight Xpress’ SX-825 camera and a Celestron
EdgeHD 9.25 at f10, on a Losmandy G11/Gemini mount. The L subframes were 12 minutes binned 1x1, while
the RGB subframes were combined from exposures of 4 minutes binned 2x2, 5 minutes binned 1x1 and 10
minutes binned 1x1, resulting in the following total exposures L:R:G:B (min) = 372 : 82: 69: 116.
Captured with Nebulosity, calibrated and sigma combined in Iris with other processing using
PixInsight LE and Photoshop CS. North is up.
