I like to use a RACI 6x30 finder primarily for alignments but I disliked the height of the standard
6x30 finder bracket. It also interfered with telescope covers. So I decided to make my own bracket
out of material sourced from Ebay. For the rings, I cut up a Meade 6 point 6x30 bracket and filed the
bottoms flat and tapped them for 10-32 screws. I then purchased the Synta finder foot from Ebay
using the search "S8080 Mini Finderscope Dovetail". Finally I used a short piece of 3/8"x1/2"
aluminum bar stock to mount the rings and the foot together. In practice this holds alignment well,
even when remounting the finder onto the telescope finder shoe, and the finder no longer sticks out
far above the main telescope.
