No, I don't believe these guitars had the checkerboard binding and I'n ot sure of the #17 thing. The sparkles were something they made up for the summer NAMM show and they all were sold to dealers I believe. So Yes, they are out there for sale somewhere, or were. You can probably get some info in the Custom Shop forum of the FDP, www.fenderforum.com.

In this picture is this the #17 silver sparkle finish as used on Don Rich's 1967 tele?
Does this guitar have the checkered binding on the body as his did? It appears to have
all vintage hardware. Is this correct? I've been looking for a guitar like this,Is this
guitar for sale? If so how much? Please advise.
