Concho Indian School

The art was made by Stephen Grounds.
His plan was for this mural to wrap around the entire school.
He wanted to honor the children of Concho and the heroes that mean so much to them.
He also wanted to challenge himself to paint on such a large scale.

Depicted on the school and throughout this gallery are Sitting Bull,
Woody Crumby, Mallory Taylor, Adam Fortunate Eagle and Susan Shawn Harjo, who won the Presidential Medal Of Freedom in 2014.
I love the fact that he interspersed the children's portraits with them.

His plan is to eventually turn the school into a gallery for Indian art so that
the children of the Concho School will have a place to be remembered.

A strong image - where once they roamed the plains, they are reduced to murals on an abandoned wall.

A very nice natural setting for this work of art the blue sky with puffy clouds and the yellow grass up front really set up the scene nicely.
The artwork is beautiful and placement into the frame for viewing spot on.

A truly spectacular project and recognition of the many incredible Native American cultures. Teaching by leading and example is education at its best. The murals are fantastic, the plan inspirational. Thank you for sharing Jeff. We must never forget because if we do, we will lose so much. VVV

it seems fitting that the murals are outdoors, with subjects so close to the land...the entire image is well thought out and captured..
