These photos are amazing. I've taken amateur photos of a tiger swallowtail on a butterfly bush, but it takes high end camera equipment to maintain the color depth. Excellent photos.

Hi Lorna,
I shot many of them in a yard in our neighborhood. Several ladies live there and they keep a nice garden that attracts butteflies. I have planted some butterfly bushes in my yard the past 3 years and are starting to get some there also. We had a really bad summer for butterflies this year with all the rain and clouds. The few shots I made I had to really make them count.

Most of the images are full frame. There may be some aesthetic cropping and on occasion a vertical crop from a horizontal shot.
The sigma 180 macro was used on all shots.
