Black and White Portrait

Working on some studio shots I had taken of my daughter a few months ago. I'm working through a Photoshop book and trying some new things. This was one I had not worked with previously, but after doing just a bit of editing on it, I think it turned out okay! What do you think? I'm always interested in constructive criticism. My favorite type of photography is people...so I'm trying to improve!

I believe you are correct...sort looks like she got socked in the eye! I've posted an updated edited shot to compare. I definitely prefer the edit. Thanks for the input!

Great shot and nice post processing of a lovely young lady.

Just being overly critical I would say some correction is still needed on her left eye to remove the shadow. But that all depends on the look/mood you were going for. I do see a light reflecting in her eyes that would suggest you had a fill light on her left side with that said you probably didn't want that shadow. Just using a little burn/dodge (forget which lightens) set to about 8-12 percent using a soft edge brush and see if you can get that shadow out. That is if you want it out.
