...nobody's home. I came upon this sign yesterday and it was news to me. I find zero comfort in this; as pedestrian, driver, and tracer of lost jobs. I am astonished that the railroad's unions allowed this under any circumstance.

I'll be the first to criticize the union's of America for being their own worst enemy in many circumstances as we entered the world of global competition. Nevertheless - this is one area where one would have to think that this is a gross safety violation - and in an area where any 'accident' could - in addition to threatening life and property - cause horrendous environmental damage.
