This 2004 image began my tradition of searching for a meaningful location for recording my last image of the calendar year. It was New Year's Eve. I was on my way back from southern California - returning to San Francisco. I'd just started driving the long straight section of Interstate Five through the San Jaoquin Valley when this rainbow appeared in the showery dusk.
I took the next exit and recorded this image. I did have another official 'last image' on that December 31st. But this was my favorite from the series.
