It had snowed in the coastal hills that night. It was cold. I'd spent the entire morning driving from San Francisco to Santa Cruz - taking pictures as I made my way south. When I arrived at the wharf - I was amazed at this calm sea under these beautiful clouds. I got that peculiar photographer's excitement as I reached for my tripod.
As I was setting up my camera - I couldn't believe that this man was walking along the beach with a surf board - yet there he was. It made no sense. The sea was flat. There wasn't a hint of a ridable wave to be seen. This was 'photographer's luck' at its best. His reflection gives the image interest and scale to the flooded beach. Thank you, mystery surfer.
