It is built in the upper part of the city and its construction is documented from 1486, coinciding with the period of construction boom promoted by the Dukes of Medinaceli, jurisdictional lords of the town and promoters of this work and many others in the area.
Like most of the buildings in the area and the Seville Cathedral itself, from which it receives influences, it is built with sandstone from the quarries of the Sierra de San Cristóbal, which supplied many works in the region.
