Jerez de la Frontera. Iglesia de la Victoria

Founded by the order of the Minim monks of Saint Francis of Paola with the name of the Monastery of Victory.Built in 1543 at the end of Porvera Street, opposite the barbican tower located at the corner of Ancha Street and Porvera Street, a tower that we can still see protruding from the roof of the building that covers it, today San Sebastián confectionery and for many years Victoria confectionery. The facade consists of two Doric columns on which rests the coat of arms of the founding order, topped by a pediment with the niche of the Virgin of Victory. The tower was built in 1639 by the architect Antón Martín Calafate. It consists of three square sections topped by a semicircular dome covered in white and blue tiles. The interior features a barrel-vaulted nave dominated by a Baroque-style altar dating from the first half of the 17th century.
