Jerez de la Frontera. La Yedra

The Chapel of La Yedra in Jerez is a small Baroque chapel located on the small hill known as La Plazuela, defined by the intersection of Empedrada and Sol streets, within the San Miguel neighborhood, a maritime and flamenco district. Lola Flores the famous spanish flamenco artist, was born on Sol street, and a monument tribute to her stands in the square. Its Baroque stone façade contrasts with the simple, white surroundings. It appears that originally there was a small shrine with a cross framed by four columns, upon which the chapel was built as an annex to the Church of San Miguel . Founded in the early 18th century, the chapel was likely designed by Diego Antonio Díaz and built by his brother Ignacio.
