Jerez de la Frontera. Palacio Bertemati

The Palace of the Marquis of Bertemati in Jerez de la Frontera was built around 1785 at the behest of the Sopranis-Dávila family, in the area formerly known as El Arroyo, near the then Collegiate Church, now the Cathedral of Jerez de la Frontera. It is the most significant example of an 18th-century palatial residence in Lower Andalusia and of the architecture of Jerez's upper bourgeoisie of the 18th century. The building is notable for the horizontality of its wide façade, which features monumental doorways.
The Palace of the Marquis of Bertemati has a very long rectangular floor plan, structured on two levels and arranged internally around a central courtyard and garden. The Baroque style is ostentatiously displayed in the two-tiered portal of its main façade, elegantly designed and skillfully executed, both in its design and decoration.
