Benediktsplatz in Erfurt is located at the western entrance to the Krämerbrücke in the historic old town . It was first mentioned under the name Für der Kremerbrucken in 1510 . In 1817 it was renamed Vor der Krämerbrücke . In 1831 it was renamed Benediktsplatz to commemorate the Benedictine Church that stood here and was sold in 1809/1810 by the French General Domain Director Gentil, who had the highest bid to demolish it . At Benediktsplatz meet Michaelisstrasse , Kreuzgasse , Krämerbrücke, Rathausbrücke and Fischmarkt together.
