Casa Mas i Morell
Due to its location in the Plaza, facing the sea, the Tower has become one of the most emblematic buildings in Sant Pol. It was designed by Ignasi Mas i Morell in 1919, and built in 1922 for Josep Mas i Morell. It is, therefore, much later than the full modernism that characterized the works of the architect at the beginning of the twentieth century. In this house, of great monumentality, the classicist references are very clear, as well as the symmetry, the balance and the decorative restraint, principles very appreciated by the noucentista movement, fully in force at the time. If we compare this house with that of Can Planiol, made by the same architect a decade ago, the contrast is more than obvious. A careful restoration was carried out in 2004.
