We encounter the former fortifications just a few steps from the middle of the town. Here we see the half rounded tower which is fully open on the side facing the town. This rondell, called the Schwedenturm, according to custom, served a purely defensive purpose and provided the town walls with additional protection. The half-timbered house next to the tower was built in 1747. It was the house of a dyer. You can still see where the fabrics were hung to dry on the uppermost floor protruding from the house.
