You are welcome by the Portal de Sant Mateu built in the fifteenth century. This gate is not as spectacular as Portal de Sant Miquel but for many is the prettiest of the entrances to the city. His stone arch, slightly pointed and narrow segments, is a sobriety lightened only by a small relief carved on the left. Represents a crucified Christ covered by a Gothic gable, a sacred defense to the villa or a statement of faith for visitors. Up bow three loopholes hurt the rock to defend the door crossbows safely. The whole is surmounted by a tower, probably older, with matacán stone and two windows that look over the county, all topped by a roof tiles that look hand that the watchful eye of the sun is covered.
