Like a sea of stone, La Pedrera´s Façades seen to be constantly moving.Their fluid and ondulating forms, receding or projecting, means that the way they are perveived will change according to the sunlight or the position of the observer. Gaudí managed to convey vivacity, tension and dynamism, lending plasticity to a material as robust as stone whils combining it with evocative recycled iron railings. The expressive wrought iron railings reveal Gaudís great artistic freedom, anticipating abstract sculpture. Gaudí chose, from amongst the metal scrap, the pieces and elements that he could recycle and combine.
