The central and most imposing element of the palace´s roof terrace is the Spire that Gaudí devised to cover and light up the large central hall and to outwardly symbolise the strengh of the Güell family and their deep religious belief. With a parabolic profile, the windows jut out in the shape of mansards. One of them is transformed into the lantern´s entrance way. 83 openings are distributed throughout the spire: 63 parabolic holes in the base, 7 windows and the door in the center and 12 rhomboidal openings in the higher part.
