Gaudí conceived a three storey high room in the heart of the palace in order to carry out the function of neuralgic centre of the family´s public and private activity.A skilful play of openings, hollows and volumes provide dynamism to the room. Designed in the peristyle fashion that stately homes were origanised around in Greek and Roman times, the large central hall is the palace´s heart or nucleus and ascends more than sixteen metres from the main floor up to the cupola, which reaches the terrace and provides the space with its unique , and natural light.
