Plaza de España, built for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, is one of the most recognizable squares of Seville, and it is depicted on a countless number of postcards. It is located in Seville´s biggest park: Parque de María Luisa, and perfect for a stroll, to look and be looked at, and to spend a lazy afternoon!
The square has the shape of a huge semi-circle with an impressively big building running around it´s edges. By the walls are 52 alcoves, decorated with depictions of historical scenes made out of azulejos (the typical Andalusian glazed tiles). The middle of the square, with a fountain, is connected to the outer part by numerous bridges over a moat. Little boats are cruising the water and it is possible to do some pleasure boating.
