Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Spitalbereiter Haus

On the premises of the hospital, one can find the house of the "Spitalbereiter", built in 1591. The "Spitalbereiter" led the hospital and made sure the farmers paid their dues to the hospital. The name means 'House of the Hospital Preparer'. Back in the day, the hospital heater was the guy who was in charge of all the little odd jobs around the hospital. Greeting guests, paying bills, keeping it organized, etc. There hasn't been a Hospital Heater since the early 1800's. (Thank you Walter for helping with the translation)

A very nice image of this distinctive house. The style is so typical for that area of Franconia. "V"

stylish, and all the moreso with the tower...the manager could keep a good eye on things from the top room..
