Located four kilometers inland off the South Road from Auki, this newly built traditional Kwaio Village is well worth a visit, or support, as it's just beautiful and realistic. I happened to arrive on the day of the Grand Opening and was the only Western person who attended. I was impressed by this project, two years in the making, because it both celebrated the traditions of the natives, for the natives, as well as providing visitors a true Kwaio village experience. Some of these drummers were of a small group who still know how to properly play these instruments. This project will hopefully spark some interest in the native youth to carry on these skills.
