Piazza Roma in Montescaglioso is a vibrant and historic square that serves as the heart of the town.
Located in the central area, it is surrounded by a blend of historic buildings, including the obelisk of San Rocco and the Church of San Rocco, dating back to the 16th century.
It has a rectangular plan, and the façade is crowned by a bell tower.
It houses the statue of San Rocco, proclaimed patron saint of Montescaglioso in 1684, as well as 17th- and 18th-century oil paintings.
The church was damaged by the 1827 earthquake and subsequently restored with the construction of stone vaults and a new façade.
