Church Stella Maris, the Star of the Sea, is located in one of the most beautiful locations in Porto Cervo, dominating the Marina below.
It is a true masterpiece of contemporary sacred architecture.
It was built in 1968-69 in a Mediterranean style, to a design by the architect Michele Busiri Vici.
The land where the church stands was donated by H.H. the Prince Aga Khan, religious leader of the Ismaili Muslims and founder of the Costa Smeralda.
The church hosts classical music concerts in the summer.
The conical-shaped bell tower is impressive, with a wrought iron cross at the top and, above the portico, a cross with the initials of Holy Mary on which two doves rest.
