La Moreneta - the statue of Black Madonna - is made of painted local sandstone.
It is exposed behind the main altar of the sanctuary church, where thousands of pilgrims come to worship it every year.
Many of them write their resolutions in the Book of Prayers.
The Santuari de Lluc is a monastery and pilgrimage site in north-west Mallorca, located in the valley, in Tramuntana Mountains.
It is considered Mallorca's most sacred site.
It was founded in the 13th century after a young shepherd named Lluc found a statue of the Virgin Mary on this very site.
