The Santuari de Lluc is a monastery and pilgrimage site in north-west Mallorca, located in the Tramuntana Mountains.
It was founded in the 13th century after a young shepherd named Lluc found a statue of the Virgin Mary on this very site.
Now we can see the Black Madonna statue - La Moreneta - behind the main altar of the sanctuary church, declared a "Minor Basilica" by Pope John XXIII in 1962.
The sanctuary church has an elegant façade with the large clock. The attic and a balustrade are finished off with a cross.
It is a Renaissance building and was consecrated in 1691.
The Baroque ornamentation was completed in the 20th century.
