This relief portrays king Shapur I on horseback followed by members of his family and highest dignitaries of the state, all on foot.
A trilingual isncription on Shapur's horse identifies him, but his attendants can only be recognized from their insignia adorning their hats.
It is also known as "Shapur's Parade" and celebrates the king's military victory in 244 over the Roman emperor Valerian and Philip the Arab.
