The difficulty of Mt Damavand (5,671 m) in summer season is similar to Mt Kilimanjaro (5,895 m) in Tanzania, the highest peak of Africa. The main challenge of the ascend is a proper acclimatization to increases your chance of success and to decrease the risk of AMS.

Day 2 was an additional one for acclimatization. We ascended as far up as we could to gain some height and then descended and stayed one more night in Camp 2.
