The statue in rock salt was added to the chapel of St Kinga in 1999. Three miners have been worked on it for six months: Stanislaw Anioł, Piotr Starowicz and Paweł Janowski.
It is the only figure of John Paul II in the world that was made in rock salt.
St. Kinga's Chapel, at the depth of 101 meters, is a masterpiece created by the miner sculptors: the brothers Jozef and Tomasz Markowski, and Antoni Wyrodek.
