The Holy Cross Chapel, located at Upper Level II at 91.0 metres underground, was created in 1860 as an offering for the mine's escape from a catastrophic leak in the mid 19th century.
The altar is located in a niche surrounded by a wooden structure and topped with an arc. In the center of the altar there is a wooden baroque sculpture of Christ Crucified.
The statues of saints found in this chapel are almost two hundred years older.
Sacred objects accompanied the miners in their work (often brought by them) and "travelled" along with them: moving from one job to another.
