The Soldier Statue (Honvéd szobor) was built in 1893 by György Zala and Albert Schickedanz to commemorate those who died during the recapture of Buda from the Austrians in 1848 (the Liberation War of 1848-1849).
It is located at Dísz tér (Parade Square), where military parades were held in the 19th century.
