On one side, Miss Liberty faces the mighty Mississippi, while an immigrant family faces the French Quarter, where most immigrants lived when they came to this area.

My wife, Elaine, and I were members of the Italian American Marching Club of New orleans (although I am German and Irish and she is French) and in 1994 we, along with 38 other members of the club, visited Carrara to watch the statue being carved. It was a stop on an 11 day tour. You captured it beautifully. Vote.

Bravo for you, Jola. You showed me something I have never seen---and in my own City.

A very moving sculpture to remind all who see it of the bravery of all who venture to foreign lands in search of a better life.
