Built between 1618 and 1631 as a greek-catholoic church, in the Renaissance-Baroque style.
The tower was added in 1690–1698 and was an important element of the fortifications as the church is located right at the defensive walls.
The tower had two rows of an embrasures (opening sometimes called a crenel or crenelle).
