At each side of the Great-Market-Square there are eight tenement houses with arcades, which used to house merchant shops and wineries.
The tenement houses are decorated with friezes, false fronts, reliefs and frescos. They still have splendid portals as well as wooden ceilings and polychrome inside.
Every house has its own rich history and names.
The 5 most exquisitely decorated houses (known as Armenian Houses) stand on the same side of the square as the Town Hall.
Four of them constitute today's the Zamosc Museum.

Zamosc was included on the list of the World's Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1992 for its significant historical and artistic value since this is one of the classical monument of Renaissance urban layout in Europe.
