The Gate With Dwarfs

Warsaw, Poland

This gate to an old, uninhabited tenement house at Prozna street, brought some memories.
When I was a child, for some 3 years I was living with my parents and grandparents in a brick apartment house; on both sides of the gate there were cast iron dwarfs very similar to these on the photo.
Their destination was to prevent the sides of the gate from damage caused by the wheels of too wide cars.
Are they called buffers in English?

I like them. We don't have anything similar to that here. Good story too!

I've not seen dwarfs like these before, but I think they are lovely! I hope someone adopts these two who stand outside of the abandoned building! I would love to have them in my garden!!!

We had a similar dwarf in our yard as a child. You brought me back to a forgotten memory.

The buffer dwarfs sound like an excellent idea! My husband could have used a buffer dwarf when he parked a car in a tight garage in Brugges a couple years ago. Oops!
