Bravo Filipino!

March 2010 - Launch of "Bravo Filipino! Artisans at Work" photo exhibit in Fashion Walk, Greenbelt 5, sponsored by the Ayala Foundation. The exhibit features seven photographers with different professions as they capture images of Filipinos engaged in traditional arts and crafts captured through their respective lenses. The traveling photo exhibit pays tribute to Filipino male and female artisans such as embroiders, fishermen, wood carvers, performers, pop-art painters, pottery makers, weavers and bukayo makers who enrich the Filipino culture by producing unique, timeless and useful crafts depicting the Pinoy ingenuity and creativity. Alcantara, a Dabawenya and the only Mindanaoan, featured the T'boli weavers and the t'nalak cloth of Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, and the okir art brass carver in Marawi City. (photos by good friend, Joyce Mariscal)

The seven participants are architect pastry chef Martha Ebro, priest Leonida Dolor, architect Manny Illana, Davao photojournalist Jojie Alcantara (me!), Don Jaime Zobel, actor and singer Piolo Pascual, dentist Erwin Lim of Cebu and museum tour guide Spike Acosta.
