While on a visit to Milford Sound way back in the last century I stepped out of my comfort zone and into a queue of wealthy tourists who were to take a trip out on the sound on one of the many vessels that ply that trade. My brain was in overdrive as I contemplated whether the displeasure of parting with the required large amount of dollars would be outwieghed by any doubtful pleasure gained from being out on the water and seeing mostly only rain. However my general demeanor took a turn for the more agreeable when I was told by the lady extracting those dollars from my person that the QE2 was lurking in local waters. All those tourists suddenly became quite pleasant characters after all. And I soon found out that the skipper of the vessel I was on knew my uncle. How nice.
