the trouble with steam trains

is that they keep breaking down.
I heard the steam engine this afternoon
so I went to Stanhope station to grab some pics
but the worlds scruffiest diesel engine turned up instead.

Ironically, there is one of these kept at my local station in case our electric commuter trains break down. They can also operate off the electrified rails (where there are some!).
