Heather burning.jpg

The annual heather burning has started, with the cold air and lack of wind all the smoke has come down as a blanket across the dale.

The sunlight looks pretty because of it.This looks like an old Victorian painting.
Why do they burn it John?

Makes for a nice photo though, the foreground really sets this one off

Beautiful images. Why does heather need to be burned?

It looks like a mist. Very pretty but why do they burn it? Looks like the sheep are waiting for you to put it out.

a great picture and some education too. I've played a few golf courses where I would have appreciated the heather burning.
